The Certain Victory of Jesus

Our Hope is in The Certain Victory of Jesus
Psalm 2- Psa. 2:1   Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,  3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Folks, does this not sound like modern liberals? Like postmoderns? Like libertarians? Like sodomites? Like Ayn Randian Capitalists? No constraints, we will do what we want because we can! Who can stop us?
Saints, do not be discouraged by this. It is the way of the devil and until Jesus subdues all of His enemies, Satan will act like Satan.

4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.  5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.  6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
What is God’s response? He laughs. He laughs because they are trying to prevent the Kingship of Jesus but God has already established Him King. There is nothing they can do about it, no matter how much they rage. They try to discourage us that our resistance is futile but God, in His ironic way, laughs because He knows that their resistance is futile.

Psa. 2:7   I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.  8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.  9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
Jesus will rule. His Father gave Him ALL of the nations. Jesus always does His Father’s will and that will is to break them with a rod of iron. That rod is the Word of God, the Bible, the Gospel. It breaks some by breaking their hearts and making them servants. It breaks others by crushing them to pieces under the load of their rebellion.

Psa. 2:10   Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.  11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.  12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
The Gospel- Be wise. Serve the Lord with fear. Rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and ye perish in the way. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.
