That I May Recover Strength- Communion Meditation

In our sermon text, Psalm 39, today, David calls out to God to relent from rebuking him. He knows that he deserves a rebuke but he has been honest with God about his sins. Instead of running from God, he runs to God, seeking God’s favor.
David had lost strength both through his own sins and through the stratagems of his enemies. But now he calls upon God so that he may recover strength.

This meal is about strength. We have been weak. We have sinned. Our enemies, the world, the flesh and the devil have worn us down. But God has forgiven us in Christ. He has raised us with Jesus and He strengthens us with might in the inner man. This food and drink is so that you may recover strength. Eat and drink and be strong in the Lord.
