Self-Deception

In the beginning, when God had made Adam and Eve, He gave them all that they needed for life and health. They were to rule the world as King and Queen, everlasting parents of everlasting progeny. They had complete freedom and only one prohibition. And that one prohibition proved to be one too many.
How can we, who are fallen in sin, not see the danger that we are in? If this first woman, created in the image of God, not born into sin, but free born, could so easily fall prey to the wiles of the devil and her own self-flattery, who are we to think we can escape such disaster?
If this man, made from the Holy Ground by a Holy God, could fail in his one call to protect his garden and his bride, how can we, who are fallen downstream 6000 years, not easily admit our frailty?

The devil deceives, as do men and women, but they always have a willing accomplice. Do not be deceived. Stop flattering yourself. Rather, believe the Word of God. Cast yourself upon Jesus through confession, repentance and the forgiveness of sins. This sort of belief is the only way to truly open your eyes to the knowledge of good and evil.
