New Wine, New Life

The New Testament is about New Hope, New Creation and New Life. The wine of the blood of Christ is that which takes away the need for all old sacrifices. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice who once and for all ended sacrifice. The perpetual ritual of bulls and goats could never take away sins. Those who offered them had to do so again and again for there always remained a consciousness of sin.

We offer no new sacrifice. Jesus died once for all. And we come to this Table to remember His once death. If we are tempted to be burdened by sin, we see the elements that testify of the death of Jesus for those sins. We are reminded that His death brings us life. We are exhorted to lay hold of Jesus Christ by faith for life and health and all things new. 

This is the New Wine. This is the New Life. Take hold, eat, drink and live.
