Seek His Kingdom

In Haggai, we see that the people of God had started their lives over without regard for God and His Kingdom. This is signified by their failure to rebuild the Temple. They were attempting to rebuild their lives and not finding any success at doing so.
Jesus said, Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Is it surprising to you when you do not put God, His Church and His people first and then find that you are not going forward but are in fact going backwards? This can be true of spiritual growth, financial stability, health, friendships, and business dealings. But if you seek God first, in faithful worship, in financial tithing, in Christian fellowship, then you should expect His blessing in His Church.

To the extent that you have not sought first the Kingdom of God, confession and repentance is in order. It is there that the Lord will say, I am with you.
