Liturgically Lazy?

Are you liturgically lazy? Do you think that worship is just too much work if you have to actually pay attention to what is going on? You might just rather let the congregation carry you along? Or, do you think that the liturgy itself does all the heavy lifting for you? Do you think you just have to show up and go through the motions and all will be well?
At my son's school, they occasionally hold a dance. Most of the kids just do a little thing that I have coined, the New Covenant Shuffle. They stand there and shuffle this way two steps and that way two steps. They are lazy and unengaged about dancing. I would argue that the New Covenant Shuffle doesn’t really even deserve to be called dancing.
When it comes to church and worship, are you doing the New Covenant Shuffle? Half asleep, two steps this way, two steps that way?
It's church. It's worship of the Triune God. It is only your soul that is at peril. If you are lazy, or simply not engaged, then it is time you got going. It is time to wake up, have faith, participate and partake.

Our Lord is the Lord of life. These are the words of life. The Supper is the food of life. He who has ears to hear let him hear!
