The
words of Mary’s Magnificat ring in our ears, “He hath put down the mighty from
their seats and exalted them of low degree.”
We, who glorify God for His grace,
understand the import of this truth. We are those of no account. We had not
accomplished anything to bring God’s favor and had, in fact, sinned against the
Lord in thought, word and deed. And we marvel at His kindness to us in Jesus.
We were low but He raised us up. We
were nothing but He has granted us all things in Jesus. We were without hope
without Jesus but He gave us Jesus and filled us with hope in Him. This is the
Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.
