The Fear of Unbelief

Unbelief causes fear. We do not believe God’s promises to us and so we are held captive by fear. Fear then leads us to disobedience.
There are two areas, in particular, where this is emphasized over and over in Scripture, Sabbath Keeping and Tithing. Unbelief does not allow one to comprehend that living on a blessed 90% is actually more money than a tightly grasped 100%. Unbelief does not comprehend that giving one full day in seven to the Lord’s service, rest from work and an emphasis on fellowship among the saints, is actually more time and efficiency for work and increase in the other six days.
These are fundamental truths that really do lead to more money and more time. But it takes faith to live this way. It does not add up with worldly calculus and this is why obedience in these areas is foundational to exceptional Christian living.
My motivation for saying these things is not to get more people at church or more money in the tithe box, although obedience would do both. My motivation is first of all to honor God and speak that which is true. And secondly, to see you, God’s people, greatly blessed. As Jesus says, give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Jesus’s statement is only partially comprehended. If you measure out sparingly, it will be returned to you, by God, sparingly. But if you measure out abundantly, the measure of God’s return cannot really even be calculated. He can be as sparing as us, if need be, but He can also be abundant beyond our imaginations and expectations.

This is true of your person, of your time and of your money. May God bless you super abundantly. The way to this blessing is through repentance of our unbelief and fear leading to disobedience.
