Believe

Dear brothers and sisters, today is a joyous day. On this Resurrection Day, we have five new children to baptize, formally recognizing them as members of Christ’s Church. This is a great time of rejoicing for all of us as we see God place His mark upon these children, declaring His promises to them. He does not place His name on them because they are innocent. Rather, He places His name on them because they are in need of a Savior. They are the ones for whom Christ died.
These children are believers in Christ, for the promises of God are to you and to your children. They are yay and amen in Jesus Christ. Even though we are at times unfaithful, God is always faithful to His promises.

We are called to be like these children, those of simple and profound faith. We do not have to grow up to believe. Our tendency, rather, is to grow up into unbelief. But God calls us to live by faith, even the faith of a little child. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding. His patience is long. His mercies are new every morning. His grace is sufficient. His forgiveness is complete. Believe Him.
