Matthew 14:31-32
And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him and said
unto him, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” And when they
were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
These words from Jesus are comforting. He exhorts us
to have more than little faith. He wants us to believe that He is the Savior,
the ruler of the boisterous winds of life. He would have us show great faith
and march boldly forward, even upon the storm tossed waves of the sea.
But He is also gracious and kind. He knows our frame.
So, while He bids us to grow up into a mature and trusting faith, He is willing
to reach out to us and save us in our hour of need, even when we are distracted and
our faith wains. When Jesus does this, the wind that assails you shall cease.
