Great is the Joy of Peace!

When your sins are forgiven, you should feel light as a feather. However, we tend to want to lament our sins and punish ourselves because Jesus was punished for us. As if our sorrow and self loathing is somehow worth more than the death of the Son of God. But that won’t do. We can do nothing to atone for ourselves, we must merely stand before the Lord with gratitude.

This meal is the meal of thanksgiving. We have bowed to confess sins, we have stood before the Lord forgiven and now we get to sit down with Him and eat in peace. Peace that passes understanding. Peace that transcends sin. Peace in the presence of our Savior. Peace in the body of Christ. Great is the joy of peace!
